I read about the Elevator Shaft on this web site so I thought I'd give it a whirl today on my way to Larch Mountain. This image is the GPS track points produced for the ascent as displayed in TOPO!. Where I could locate the trail I followed the switch backs but obviously most were so tight the GPS tracking was unable to sort them out so it looks like I went straight up the hill. Once in the trees at the top, the route became a bit fuzzy. Having done both now, I can say with some certitude I prefer this route to the circus at Multnomah Falls  for access to Multnomah Basin.
