(I'm splitting this post up because of some of the server problems)

This is my first post--I figured I'd start with a trip report to help anyone interested in doing a loop out around Wahtum Lake. We left on Saturday morning last weekend (the 7th).

Here's the approximate route we took:

Well, now I can't post more than a sentence, so I guess you don't get my full trip report!  When they fix the server, I'll post.  Long story short: SNOW, BRING GPS!!

How far up did the snow start?
May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view.--E.Abbey

Yes, please post about your day and the conditions once the new site software is up and running.

Contrary to the previous report I saw, snow started at about 2600' (the other report said 3600').  It didn't get deep and hard to navigate until closer to that 3600'.  The rest of my report is typed up and ready to go--hopefully the server switch this week will go off without a hitch!!

Got a call from a hiker today confirming that Eagle Creek is open to about 2 miles from Wahtum Lake and it still is deep.  Snowshoes anyone?  Also, there is a lot of blowdown up there too.

My first backpacking trip was a one-nighter from Eagle Creek trailhead to Wahtum Lake and back again.  That's a lo-oo-oong hike.
