    No cheers on this one…

    From the link:

new air quality rules that will make it easier to build power plants near national parks and wilderness areas

    to be finalized this summer.

Clearly, no new power plants will be built before a new administation comes in. And just as this adminsitration overturned last-minutes rules from the Clinton admin, so could a new one. So it's hard to see what the purpose or impact of such a thing will be. Final favors for campaign donations?

Wow, let's really hope you're right drm!  It looks like Obama will most likely be the next president, and I believe he has a pretty green stance, so that may bode well to disable stuff like this.  I just find it sad that our wild lands are of such low esteem to many.  Sometimes when flying, when I look down to see the entire landscape carved into squares like a patchwork quilt, with concrete roads running everywhere and permanent structures being built all over, I am saddened.  And to think, this all happened in only 200 years!!

Thanks for the link to the interesting article about these potential plans Jamie!  Good to know about this stuff even if it is saddening.
