Went up to Grassy Knoll in SW Washington saturday - it was like going back in time (to March)!  Spring is just beginning up there, the trilliums are blooming, and everything is freshly sprouting.  A few minor snowpatches on the way to the top of Grassy Knoll (3600'), but nothing too dramatic.  Beyond that it looked like lots of snow.

It WAS buggy - lot's of black flies.  I hope this isn't an indicator of the rest of the year as all the snow takes it's time melting...

There is definitely lots of snow beyond Grassy Knoll. I went up there on Sunday with the intention of going all the way to Grassy Pass. However, about 1/2 mile beyond the knoll the trail vanished under several feet of snow. With no way of knowing where the trail was supposed to go (I've never hiked it before) and no clear tracks to follow, I turned around. So right now it seems that the knoll is clear but the pass will not be for anther couple of weeks.
