Instead of where are you going, what are you cooking up?

We are splitting up the meals on the next trip I am going on.  I am making something called Pistou Soup for a dinner.  It's a potato/green bean/tomato/pasta soup with a bunch of pesto in it.  Then I dehydrated it, so on the trail I just add water and boil.

For a breakfast I am trying out a new recipe of Oatmeal breakfast cake.  After cooking the cake I am going to cut it up to small chunks and cook it at about 200 degrees for quite a long time to kind of dry it out, and reduce the weight on it.  This will be good for the day when we pack out, so we don't have to fuss with stoves or anything.

I also made some fruit rolls in my dehydrator with raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, banannas, papaya and a little honey.  They are really good.

If you can't tell, I really like the cooking/eating aspect of backpacking...

I'll be eating Idahoan "Loaded Baked" instant potatoes, Irish Dubliner cheese, jerky and Clif Bars this weekend.

My dad made the Chicken Chili from the Yaffe book and it was excellent.  Highly recommended.  The granola I had previously made went over well, as did the pistou soup.

I think that I will try the Pasta Roni Alfredo using whole milk powder, olive oil, and perhaps some tuna or salmon as well as freeze dried peas.
