    Before posting, please review the Forum Guidelines.  We have a family friendly and encouraging website and these guidelines strive to keep it that way.

    Trip reports are great! We love seeing them and we encourage all levels, from beginners to full-thrashing bushwhackers to post trip reports, because there are always other visitors to the site at the same level who can learn something from it.  So please don't be shy about posting.

    You can create a trip report as short or lengthy as you choose.  We really like to hear from anyone who has been out to a location, if your comment is as short as

    "Went up Nesmith Point yesterday.  Saw snow"

    Or if you write a 37 page magnum opus!

    Trip reports are for a number of reasons;

    1. People love seeing photos of new and interesting places
    2. People want to know current conditions of their favorite hikes
    3. People are interested in you and your adventures!
    4. Trip reports encourage others to get out there.  Especially in the off season

    There really aren't any rules about what you can post about.  We figure if you are interested in a location, chances are that others that visit this site will be interested too.  However, here are a couple guidelines:

    1. Put the location and the date in the subject line.  It helps people chose from a list
    2. Generally trip reports are from Oregon and Southwest Washington, but we don't want to discourage anyone from posting their trips to BC or California, Idaho or even Alaska, as long as you are doing it from a Oregonian's perspective
    3. Although this is "Portland" hikers we don't mean to leave out folks from all over Oregon and SW Washington.  Please feel welcomed. You are among friends
    4. If you are a true teacher's pet, Use your trip report as a lesson to others: include driving directions, lats and longs, lots of photos, and even links to external websites.  (None of this is required of course!)

    One more thing:  don't be discouraged if no one replies to your post.  This can be for many reasons but certainly it's not because we don't like you Smile.  You can be assured that people will read it and enjoy it for years to come.  We always appreciate reading the stories and seeing the pictures, even though we don't always get a chance to reply to every post.
